Kevin Collins Joins Delta Petroleum Corporation Board of Directors

- Mr. Collins to Fill Vacancy Created by Retirement of Director John Keller

DENVER, Colorado (March 28, 2005) -- Delta Petroleum Corporation (Nasdaq: DPTR - News); (FRANKFURT STOCK EXCHANGE: DPE), an independent energy exploration and development company, today announced that Kevin R. Collins has been appointed to the Company's Board of Directors effective March 23, 2005. The Company also announced that John Keller has elected to retire from all of the corporate boards on which he serves, including the Board of Directors at Delta Petroleum Corporation. Mr. Collins has been appointed to complete Mr. Keller's term as a Director, which expires at the next annual meeting of the Company's shareholders. As an Independent Director, Mr. Collins is expected to be appointed to the Audit, Compensation and Nominating Committees of the Board.

Kevin Collins was most recently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Evergreen Resources, Inc., having served in various management capacities with that company from 1995 until 2004. Evergreen Resources was acquired by Pioneer Natural Resources Co. in September 2004.

Mr. Collins became a Certified Public Accountant in 1983 and has over 13 years of public accounting experience. He has served as Vice President and a Board Member of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association, President of the Denver Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, Director of Pegasus Technologies, Inc., and Board Member and Chairman of the Finance Committee of Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States. He received his B.S. degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Arizona.
