NEAL STANLEY JOINS DELTA PETROLEUM’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

DENVER, Colorado (December 6, 2004) -- Delta Petroleum Corporation (NASDAQ: DPTR); (FRANKFURT STOCK EXCHANGE: DPE), an independent energy exploration and development company, today announced that Neal A. Stanley has been appointed to the Company’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Stanley is currently President of Teton Oil & Gas Corporation, which is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, and has approximately 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. From 1996 until June 2003, he served as Senior Vice President – Western Region for Forest Oil Corporation. During the years 1983 until 1991, Mr. Stanley was Rocky Mountain Regional Vice President at Pacific Enterprises Oil Company and Terra Resources. Since 1995, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States, where he served as President from 1999 to 2001. Mr. Stanley earned his B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
